Dominican shortstop allegedly used false name and age
The Yankees’ recent signing of a shortstop identified as Damian Arredondo from the Dominican Republic reportedly has been voided because the player is not who he says he is and is older than 16 years old. SI.com cited sources saying that Major League Baseball’s Department of Investigations determined the discrepancies, and by a new rule a player who has used a fraudulent identity cannot sign with another club for one year.
